LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AREA ACTIVITIES, 1999-2007
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Mani local Government Education Authority was created as result of 1975 local Government reforms as an area Education officer who comprised Mashi, Dutsi and Bindawa. With establishments of National Primary Schools MANAGEMENT Board (PSM), the department was renamed as local government Education Authority directly under the state Primary Schools management Board.
The following served as the Education Secretaries between 1999 to 2007.

STRUCTURE
The department is headed by the Education Secretary with four Heads of sections namely: Principal Personnel Officer (PPO), Planning Research and Statistics, Schools Services and Finance/Supply.

- Payment of Salaries and other entitlement.
- Staff enjoys refurbishing loan
- Annual motorcycle loan scheme
- Successful enrolment of teachers at various training institutions.
- Recruitment of teaching and non teaching staff by the approval of Board
- Purchased seven motorcycles aimed at improving schools supervision
- Hosting of Zonal Qur’anic recitation competition in 2006.
- Successful establishment of a workable office for SUBEB Zonal coordinator.

- Production of Instructional Materials to LGEA for pupils use under Mani LGEA

- Construction of One block of two classrooms in twelve schools in 2006.
- Construction of one block of two classrooms at Nasarawa Community in Magami village.
- General rehabilitation of LGEA Headquarters building in 2005.
- Supply of Furniture to rehabilitation Primary Schools in 2004/2005.
- Teachers’ recruitment in 2006.
- Provision of Instructional Materials 2005/2006.
- 2 nd Phase rehabilitation of Primary Schools in 2006.
- Feeding of Pupils at Pilot Boarding Primary School.
- In 2006 Production of C.A Booklet for the LGEA.
Role of traditional/Communities’ leaders
- Promotion of enrolment drive
- Effective Enlightment campaign.
- Promotion of School/community relationship through PTA in the Local Government.
- Received Honor by Mani Local Government Area represented for outstanding performance in Quiz and Debate.
- Rehabilitation of one Number block at Duwan Model Primary School by Alh. Suleiman Abubakar Duwan.
- Donation of Fuse for Pilot Primary School boarding by the community.
- Financial donation from sons and daughters to ensure take-up of Janzama Piloy Baording Primary School
- Construction of Library at Janzama Pilot Primary School by Hon. Member KTHA Representing Mani, Hon. Bishir Isah Mani.
- Supply of school uniforms and instructional Materials by some members of community to Primary School Pupils.
- Supply of Uniforms and instructional Materials for distribution to all Primary School pupils across the LGEA by members Federal House of Representative Mani and Bindawa in 2006.
- Provision of school uniforms to all LGEA Representative at 2005/2006 SUBEB Chairman Quiz competiton by Alhaji Lawal Sule Mani.
ROLE OF PTA
- Effective sensitization of parent towards community level educational development planning (CLEDEP).
- Formation of project implementation committee (PLC) under self-help project of the UBEB.
- Sensitizing members of the community and PTA to contribute 20% for self-help effort.
- Contribution of 20% for wall fencing and construction of one block of two classes, office and store under World Bank self-help project in 2005.
- Construction of one well at Kwangwama Primary School in 2000.
- Construction of open well at Aliyaba Primary School in 2002.
- Construction/Rehabilitation of toilets in some schools.
- Construction of temporary shades to ease classroom congestion in our populated schools.

- Dawodu Joshua (NYSC) Construction 80 number combined desks/chairs and donated to Durbi Primary School in 2002.
- Christiana Anesedo Amaka (NYSC) Constructed combined desks/chairs 45 no and donated to Duru Primary School in 2003.
- Mr. Mathew K.O (NYSC) constructed 17 number combined desks/chairs and donated to Janzama Pilot Primary School.
